  1. Many people do not pay attention to portion size. Just being mindful of appropriate portion size can help you drop extra pounds without any effort. Another way to manage portion size is to eat on smaller plates, it tricks your brain into thinking you’re eating more food.

  1. Know Your Fats

This is very important especially when it come to so called low fat foods. When you look at fats quality is always better than quantity. It is better to eat natural anti-inflammatory fats instead of eating low fat foods that are created in a lab. Man made fats lead to increased inflammation, lipid dysfunction, heart disease and arteriosclerosis.  Eat healthy, high quality fats like fish oil, olive oil and small amounts of saturated fats found in dairy and animal product and even coconuts.

  1. Reduce Intake of Refined Carbohydrates

Eating refined carbohydrates leads to blood sugar imbalance, insulin resistance, diabetes and metabolic syndrome.  Simple carbohydrates rob your body of the nutrients that it needs for brain and body function.  It is better to eat complex carbohydrates found in foods like fruits and vegetables. Complex carbohydrates contain fiber, vitamins and minerals that slow down the absorption of the sugar and provide the body with nutrients it needs to function.

  1. You Eat Low Calorie Processed Foods

Any low calorie processed food is a joke and will lead you on a life long journey to chronic disease and hormone dysfunction. The real low calorie foods include fruits and vegetables that are low calorie and nutrient dense. If you take a look at junk and processes foods they are calorie dense and have no nutrients.

  1. Don’t Skip Meals

Skipping meals to lose weight is pointless. When you skip a meal your body thinks that you are starving and it will find ways to compensate. Your brain needs glucose and when you don’t eat your body will make glucose from the proteins in your muscles and it will slow down your metabolism to conserve energy. The best way to lose weight is to eat so that you provide your body with the nutrients it needs for proper functioning.
